Waitlisted
PE member, Applied for an upgrade AMS-JFK-AMS online and elited helpdesk said that I was waitlisted as there is no availability. Do I need to ask on the day at check in if it has been granted? I am also waitlisted out of JFK. Is there a different procedure when flying from an airport other than AMS?

It is always worth giving the helpdesk a call periodically as they can check the status for you.
SPL will be able to see the status of the upgrade but JFK may not be able to as apparently KL and NW work from seperate reservations systems and NW cannot always see the waitlist status on KL flights.....Hence the reason that we get to take the little peices of paper with us to confirm to the check in agents in the USA that we really have been upgraded.

Welcome to flyertalk!!!
For such situations e-tickets will really help in the future - especially if your upgrade on the return clears just ahead of the flight it's not easy to get the NW checkin-agent to issue a biz BP if your KL paper-ticket says eco...
I would call FD at least two times a week, better daily...

Keep checking your flight at http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/people/...ileo/frame.asp and if Z availability opens up then call the desk for the upgrade.
