switch to N.A
sorry for the cross-post I posted in northwest forum and nobody realy knew for sure so I'm posting over here...
I'm currently platinum elite on klm and I might not re-qualify for next year. If I switch my acount to a north american address will northwestswitch me to platinum elite for the entire next year as well? if so when is a good time to do it?
Thanx

I'm not 100% sure but it seems that a switch to NW should keep exactly the same elite level and validity as you have on KLM.
Maybe there is anybody who already did it and can report some facts?
Please also see: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum28/HTML/001705.html for addtl. info on the differences between both programs.

In short:
KL offers...
*Free access to Worldclubs
*All fares eligible for upgrades, no restrictions based on fare-type such as on NW
*On KL you can only go down one level at a time, ie if you are Plat you will be downgraded to gold next year instead of losing it all
*KL has more European partner airlines that qualify for mileage.
You have nothing to gain by moving to NW because IT IS NOT A COMP, only an exact transfer of status and miles meaning extra hassle and no benefits. There are still 6 months to go this year and with the level requirements being dropped to 60000 miles maybe you will requalify...
