Missing a flight
I am flying on a NW ticket on KLM metal. What is KLM's policy regarding tardiness? If a passenger is late for a flight, say gets to Schiphol 20 minutes after take-off, do they automatically book him on the following flight? I am booked for the 7.25pm AMS-JFK flight, and I know I may be late. Will they charge me anything, or simply put me on the next flight (at 11am the following day)?

If you know you are going to be late, call them and tell them you have been caught up something pretty serious ( being hit by falling satelittes doesnt normally cut any ice )and explain that there is no way you can make the flight. If you do this about one hour before the flight and speak to them nicely they usually find a way to help you out. They want to keep your custom but they also know that if you are on a restricted ticket they dont have to do anything. They normally charge a small fee for re-issue though.

I booked one of those cheepie tickets over internet to SFO from LCY (LCY-AMS-DTW-SFO). I missed my LCY to AMS flight by 15 minutes. The ticketing agent at LCY called up KLMuk reservations at Norwich and I was rebooked on LGW to DTW later that afternoon with a later connectionto SFO. I was charged 50 rebooking fee.
Good Luck.
