The flying Dutchman helpdesk once told me that you can upgrade using points on all KLM paid tickets but NM flights require it to be a full fare.

That is for FD - if you are world perks then that's a different matter of which I will be ignorant as a poor european.

You are allowed to upgrade on any ticket/fare using FD points as a Flying Dutchman.I don`t know about NW rules.

I just phoned the KLM FD Helpdesk. The agent told me , who have to do all the stuff with your World Perks desk.He told me, that is not important, that is a KL flight.
If M class fares are not upgradeable on NW, it is not possible, although it is KL metal.

For further questions, you can phone the english speaking KLM desk at +31 20 430 9325.

Goog Luck !!

NW only allows upgrades using miles on Y and B fares to/from Europe.

They're certainly exceptionally stingy with complimentary upgrades. Furthermore, upgrades by paying with FD points are not available at check-in/boarding (but paying cash for upgrades are usually available until the last minute).

KLM should implement a policy being more generous with complimentary upgrades when available et cetera, not unlike what Platinum members of airlines in the States receive...

From my memory about CA$1300 - I think thats what I was quoted last time I was in YYZ !

As it happened while standing by, hoping I would get one... I ended up getting a whole row of seats to myself.

The flight attendents were kind enough to stop other pax sharing that row, when they discovered I was RW.
