KLM Bumping procedures

Good afternoon,

I will be flying LYS-AMS-MMX this coming sunday, and I know that at least the AMS-MMX part is overbooked every now and then with the result that people are offered to get bumped with a compensation. A quick look at trip.com shows 1 Y seat left (for the 19:10 departure), so I guess an overbooking situation is not impossible. Considering that my arrival time (or date) in MMX doesn't matter very much I am interested in learning how KLM selects people to get bumped; is there a volunteer list you can add yourself to, or is it all handled arbitrarily at the gate? Does it make a difference if you are arriving with a connecting flight or if you are going only one segment? And do they care if you have checked in luggage..?

Any help or good advice on this topic is much appreciated!

I fly KLM to and from MMX quite a lot, my next flight out of MMX is next week... and from my experience there doesn't seem to be much of a pattern in their "bumping" policy... at least none that I could notice. I have only been on 3 overbooked AMS-MMX flights. I don't believe it matters if you have checked luggage.
I have taken notice though that starting this Autumn many of KLM's flights to MMX will be on somewhat larger Jet F70 aircraft...instead of the props.
