As of 11-Dec: Train will replace KL-flights AMS-EIN

From nu.nl:

Summary: As of December 11th, KLM will no longer offer flights between Amsterdam (Schiphol) and Eindhoven, as a new direct railway service will start. The train trip takes 1 hour and 20 minutes.

As of October 30th, Air France will start two daily flights between CDG and EIN; a third will be added in December.

Here is the Press Release:

Roissy, 18 July 2005

Air France and KLM to Launch
Paris-Eindhoven Route
Starting on 30 October 2005, Air France and KLM will launch a Paris-Eindhoven (Netherlands) service.
To begin with this service will be operated twice daily followed by three times a day from 11 December onwards. It will be operated as a code-shared AF/KL flight in ATR 42-500 aircraft with seating for 48 passengers, leased from the French airline Airlinair.

Flight times will be coordinated so that a round trip journey is possible the same day. Furthermore this new air link to Air France's Paris-Charles de Gaulle hub will give the Eindhoven region access to Air France's extensive global network.

Eindhoven is one of the Netherlands major economic and industrial centres. Eindhoven's population is just over 200,000 strong.

KL now advise that the new direct Eindhoven-Schiphol rail service will not commence December 11, but "sometime in 2006". The flights will still cease on the aforementioned date.

Is it? Book on KLM EIN-AMS for EUR 120+surcharges = EUR 217,90 roundtrip (Economy Class)
Book on NS EIN-AMS two single trips for EUR 26,40 each (1st class)...

Expensive miles though....
