Record Internet Turnover
"AMSTELVEEN, August 13, 2004 – KLM Royal Dutch Airlines set a record this week by selling more than one million euros’ worth of tickets online. This means that more than 10% of KLM sales now take place over the internet. In cooperation with travel agents and others KLM aims to generate 40% of sales online by 2007."
I'm sure that travel agents will be more than happy to refer their clients to KLM's online booking engine, which is already world famous for its user-friendliness and 100% reliability.

If a few people bought that fare with the taxes of 21.000 GBP then I can believe this...
I would say the figure is within the trend other airlines state. Just that KL's booking engine (at least the klm.de one) is really still one of the worst that exist.

Not used a travel agent for ???? long
We have not used a travel agent for a long long time.
In general we find that when klm.com works it is OK but it does have many problems and they seriously need to address this.

It *is* a good booking engine, sometimes. If I'm booking a relatively simple BCN-AMS-SEA or something, and it doesn't crap out during the payment process, and it doesn't go into "maintenence mode" during the final stages, and the little java thing on every page doesn't crash the browser, I really like the different colors on the calendar to help me find cheap fares.
But if I want to do a more complex itin, or one of the disasters above occurs, I may as well give up, take the train to the airport, and do it in the ticket office because they can't do it on the phone and the one good person I know (in FD) can't sell me tickets.
