AF to the rescue

"400 KLM passengers stranded for 24 hours.

PHILIPSBURG-A Royal Dutch Airline KLM aircraft experienced mechanical problems on Saturday that resulted in some 400 passengers being left stranded for a little more than 24 hours.

Saturday's flight to Amsterdam via Curaçao didn't take off at its regular time, around 4:30pm, because of a hydraulic leak, explained Vicky Iltes-Dubourcq of Arrindell Aviation Services, KLM's local handling agent.

As the Boeing 747-400 was fully booked, some 400 passengers were left stranded. The passengers who didn't live in St. Maarten were put up in Maho, Caravanserai, Divi Little Bay and Flamingo Hotels.

The part needed to repair the KLM aircraft was flown in on Air France's regular flight early Sunday afternoon. A mechanic replaced the faulty part and the KLM flight left for Curaçao around 5:45pm yesterday to continue on to Amsterdam."

Well I guess this can happen.
A delay sucks but rather a delayed plane than an unsafe flight I feel.
Nice to see AF comes to the rescue - in the end the passengers benefit too in the already inconvenient situation.

They(AF) refused to change a flat tyre on Easyjet plane at TLS the other day. Easyjet had to fly a replacement plane from STN to ferry the passengers.

That kind of luck almost never comes along! Usually it's some boring location where the airport is miles from the city.

(BTW Johan the link you posted now points to a very different story unfortunately....)
