only initials instead of full name for web@award?

This's the first time I book web@award and the system only asked me for the Initials and Surnames of the passengers instead of full names while booking paid tickets. Is that a normal practice for KLM to use initials for award tickets? Thanks

Not in my experience. Whether for me, or for a friend, the tickets have been with first name.

Of course, I've booked all by phone, and each time I've given the first name, so that may be why.

KLM FD has always used my initials and surname whenever I booked the tickets with them (both by phone and web). However, their standard web booking page and telephone reservations always asks for first name.

Every single KLM-issued ticket I have ever flown on has only designated me as MENDIS/SC rather than MENDIS/SEAN, so I guess its a quirk in their system (always web or CTO issued tickets though). My FD card also says "Mr.S.C.Mendis" on it rather than my full name.
