Can't say about the general success quote; not too many here seem to have scored one yet for an intercont. flight.

I got two for a flight FRA-EWR two months ago. Only for the FRA-EWR segment which was packed in biz. None for the return where at least half the flight was empty... Request was some 4 weeks before flight and on the cheapest possible fare...

called the fd helpdesk a couple a days ago for the same reason. I was told that a co upgrade on klm miles has to be ordered at least 14 days in advance. this was already too late for me!

My one and only request

On my one and only request to KLM to upgrade CO flight, it was done though it was EXTREMELY ineptly handled by both CO & KLM. Although KLM told me that I had been successfiul weeks before departure, Co kept saying it hadn't happenmed, and wasn't possible...

Essentially KLM screwwd up by creating a 2nd COMPLETELY seperate reservation for my upgrade that I spent hours getting integrated into the existing reservation.

However I was in that nice C class seat on a EWR-LGW flight.

BTW I was considerably more impressed with the beds on KQ

I did this in April for AMS-EWR and EWR-AMS for my wife and myself. Called the FD Elite desk in Amsterdam to request this upgrade (about 4 weeks before the travel dates) - took some time. But when my travel agent emailed me the ticket numbers (they had already told me those by phone, so I could request my upgrade) a few hours later that same day, she already saw us confirmed in BF. Called FD desk the next day, they confirmed it too and faxed the vouchers. No hickups at all - still amazed at how easy this was. Tried it on NW flights a few times, but it was always a problem, or turned out wrong. If I had to do it again, I would again call the FD desk to start the process.
Good lucck,
