I buy those 45 min transfers at AMS quite often (including non-Schengen to Schengen) and I've never missed my connection so far. At worst, if the inbound is few minutes late, the bag sometimes doesn't make it and arrives on the next KL flight, but with 90 minutes, I wouldn't even worry about that.

Had a 55 minute non-Schengen D-gate to B-pier KLC fokker farm gate yesterday.
managed to swing by everyone's favorite mcClown on the upper level, order and eat, go through passport control and get to the gate with 5 minutes to spare until boarding started.
anything on the same ticket over an hour is, as far as I'm concerned, a relaxed layover.
As to bags, they may not make it. But that might also happen with a 4 hour layover.
To my surprise; my bag showed up last night at my final destination.
