Front standard seat now paid?

Hi all,

”Front standard seats” used to be free for SkyPriority passengers (like me, a lowly FB Gold). However, I am now being asked for money for this seat, and even receive no discount on the price (in fact, there’s also no discount on Economy Comfort seats). Is this an IT glitch or has there been indeed a recent change in policy? Thanks!

Change in policy.

No more discounts on paid seats, until 72h before departure at which point all paid seats (including Economy Comfort) become free for FB Golds.

Thanks for the super-quick and informative replies. I need to make up my mind if I like this new policy but it’s good to know!

Wow, there's nothing special about front seats. For what it matters, all seats are now paid... Ridiculous.

It's not so terrible. Now Eco Confort extra legroom seats are free for FB Gold at H-72, whereas they used to be paid even at OLCI.

Standard seats are still free for elites at all times. I'd argue a "front seat" is not worth the price generally, if you must sit as far forward as possible you may as well grab an economy comfort seat as the price difference is negligible, at least for short haul.

Is it problematic to change the frequent flyer number via garuda or OLCI after getting a free or discounted seat (with the FB member benefit)?

Silver here within 24hrs: not allowing free economy comfort selection though. Any trick to or it or just a bug…?

The free seat selection for FB Silver does not apply to economy comfort seats. That's only for Gold at T72 and anytime for Platinum.

…which is not what this link says:

Not that I’m surprised.

The link does indirectly say it, by listing both "paid seats" and economy comfort under Gold, which implies that paid seats doesn't encompass economy comfort.
