Great thought. I am sure my government will go for this low-cost option to keep the 737 BBJ flying and keep the license of our Royal flyer up to date ;-)

Perhaps interesting to mention - I noticed Transavia (Holland) operating an A320 today. Specifically this flight ATH-EIN with registration LZ-MDK.

The aircraft is probably a leased one (especially looking at the registration), though unclear to me if that means Transavia crews? I'm guessing it would be too early for Transavia/KLM crews to be trained on the A32x platform since deliveries are still a year away?

The owner if this aircraft (fly2sky) do seem to specialise in training crews to migrate to a new platform. Though they also do regular charters.

Simultaneously knowledge is being transferred from Fly2Sky, so that the client carrier can build its own skills and, in time, bring an outsourced solution in-house.

HV is short of aircraft, this week five KL 737-700s joined the fleet. Dry lease, I presume.

They can always apply to Ryanair if they don't want to train on the A320 family

The seat map for KL 1267 on that day shows 20C as both existing and being available though.

Also, J/EC until row 6 just like the 737s.

According to luchtvaartnieuws.nl, a second airframe will commence commerical operations on 7 October, and thereby allow for A321neo operations to Edinburgh, London and Paris.

We need EC I guess. Seat pitch at A320s of AF is really less convenient as the current KL B737s, certainly in EC.

Row 39... that's going to be a VERY tight fit. I believe that the A321neo is not sized the same as the regular A321ceo so we cannot straight up compare to AF. But looking at, for example, Aegean's A321neo.. they only go until row 38 - having "EC seats" for rows 1-7. KLM is planning to one-up that with an extra row through the use of ultra thin seats: Seat map.

While I was applauding the move to the Airbus platform... this doesn't sound good. The extra inch of seat width that the Airbus offers (compared to the 737) we are going to lose in comfort on the legroom.

Edit: Transavia will be having 39 rows. While HV does have row 13, they have no extra legroom seats. So effectively KLM sacrifices row 13 for extra legroom on EB/EC. The rest of the config is identical between KLM and HV. Impression of the HV cabin here. The HV seats seem to be the same Recaro ones as mentioned above.

Do HV and KL use different exit doors behind the wing? HV has two seats missing there, both the window side, while KL only has one missing and it's the aisle.

The seats themselves are up to the airline's whim, but the door itself should be the same model as it's manufactured by Airbus. It is the one that can be blocked if the airbus is in a low density configuration.

The one that been causing a lot of noise recently in the case of the 737 MAX9. However in the case of airbus it's never a door plug, but stays as a physical door even when condemned.
