Can you transfer from KLM USA flight to AMS to KLM flight to BCN in 50 minutes?

Flying the new KLM route from Orlando, FL (MCO) to AMS later this year in Business. Connecting to a KLM flight to BCN with a 50 minute window OR can take a 2 hour layover. What would you recommend?

And if the consensus is take the later connection what lounge access would I have at AMS. I am Diamond with DL and flying in J on both flights. Also have a DL Sky Club Exec card.

Take the 2 hrs layover.

AFAICT - you will have to clear Schengen immigration at AMS (as AMS-BCN would be a Schengen flight). So 50 minutes are not enough for immigration. Just in case.

I'd take the two hour. While it *is* possible to do it in 50 minutes, the immigration you'll have to pass through can also take decidedly longer than that if you're unlucky.

You would have access to both the Schengen and Non-Schengen KLM lounges.

If on a single ticket I would take the 50 minute connection and arrive sooner. You will be first out of your plane, can take the Short Connection lane at immigration and will have enough time to reach the gate to BCN.

50 minutes is fine in AMS. They have a fast lane for tight connections.

I’m doing a 50 min connection similar to yours this weekend.

Well, explaining the options to my better half, you can guess what she selected.Yep, breakfast at the Crown non Schengen lounge then the flight. If it was just road warrior me I'd say game on. Thanks for the input however. Much appreciated.

It is, but 50 minutes is not guaranteed. A short delay, Polderbaan arrival, gates a mile apart . . . and only a fit runner will make it.

So it is all about what you want yourself. If you are a road warrior and want to arrive quickly in BCN take the 50 min connection - it most likely will work and if on one ticket, if it doesn't work they will rebook to the next flight. If you want to take it easy with time for a breakfast at the Schengen lounge - book the one with 2 hours connection.
