There is almost ALWAYS some "bonus" offer for FB miles purchases: see here.

You should never consider buying FB (or any other program) miles, unless you need a top up for a ticket that you know you are on the verge of buying.

It's a good offer if you are short of a low number of miles to buy an award, but generally speaking, buying miles is of low value. Even more since the last FB changes in April 2018 where you can book an award and pay a part in cash on top of the miles.

Wait until they get into the same trouble as Lufthansa at the moment. My bonus is 50% and I certainly won't be buying at that rate, Maybe at 100%, but even then it's borderline value, really borderline. Best used for just topping up the account for an award if needed.

My bonus is also 50% and even with that the price remains outrageous.

Thanks for the replies. I am used to doing the calculations for BA Avios. Just call it 1p per mile.
But I was not sure of the value of FB miles.
Anyway, it does not sound like it is such a great bargain.

I also have 50%. Does anyone has anything else or is the "up to 75%" a load of bull?

It's cheaper for sure to buy miles from somebody else, and even with the cost of transfering miles, both would get a win-win situation.

Transferring FB miles costs € 3 for 250 miles. Not very attractive

Only 50% bonus offer in my account, and interestingly I didn't receive an email notice.

Back in March, 2019, I topped up FB miles with the 75% bonus offer.

It is not a bargain at all, it is just nonsense. At 100% I would consider it in function of immediate needs, but even then I would probably not buy. But somebody must make use of it, otherwise, they wouldn't offer it.

This is the beauty of marketing : they give you +75% on something which is 3 times its real value making you think you have made a bargain.

Can purchasing miles be used to avoid your FB from expiring perhaps? Or will only flying do that?

Unfortunately not, there are only 2 ways to prevent FB mile expiration (from FB website):
