There is almost ALWAYS some "bonus" offer for FB miles purchases: see here.
You should never consider buying FB (or any other program) miles, unless you need a top up for a ticket that you know you are on the verge of buying.

It's a good offer if you are short of a low number of miles to buy an award, but generally speaking, buying miles is of low value. Even more since the last FB changes in April 2018 where you can book an award and pay a part in cash on top of the miles.

Wait until they get into the same trouble as Lufthansa at the moment. My bonus is 50% and I certainly won't be buying at that rate, Maybe at 100%, but even then it's borderline value, really borderline. Best used for just topping up the account for an award if needed.

Thanks for the replies. I am used to doing the calculations for BA Avios. Just call it 1p per mile.
But I was not sure of the value of FB miles.
Anyway, it does not sound like it is such a great bargain.

It is not a bargain at all, it is just nonsense. At 100% I would consider it in function of immediate needs, but even then I would probably not buy. But somebody must make use of it, otherwise, they wouldn't offer it.
