Are you sure those registrations are correct? I ask only because there's an article on the 787-9 in the October issue of Holland Herald ... and the picture they have of the new plane has the registration, PH-KLM! :D

Did you know Arke registered their 787s with a reference pun to KLM?

Airlineroute reports the first flight is now 22NOV.

789 flight from Dubai on 1 december?
According to the KLM website a 789 will be used for the flight from Dubai to Amsterdam on 1 December. All days before and after that date are with 777-200's. Is this a 'get to know the airport' flight or a mistake?
Thanks, Sander |
I just booked DXB-AMS for March. On my date of travel, the flight is on the 772, however, I see other dates where they are using the 789, however, not following a specific pattern. Does anyone know if a substitution is likely?

I got a day of departure swap from 772 to 789 on that route so anything is possible.

Can someone confirm that there's only one lavatory for WBC located in the forward section? It seems a bit odd.

Hi ZKOKA,
There are actually two lavatories for WBC located in the forward section. One is located aft of door 1R(ight), while the second one is located at the left just aft of the cockpit, and hence not visible at the seatmap. |

Hi,
Just had the opportunity to fly on their first operation flight (afaik) today on the return from KIX-AMS, it was on 'Carnation' - sorry not sure what the registration was. According to the crew this plane is 3 months old. My first impression of the new WBC - they are similar as those on CX, AA but seems closer to the ones from Delta. Although indeed more private, it does make the whole cabin much smaller because the walls around the chair high- some might even feel claustrophobic - aisle seems to be have shrunk. The same feeling I had when walking through the Eco+ and Eco cabin. The positive part is the tray table - I found it very functional. The IFE is a big improvement compared to the 747 - reason i mentioned is because on the 777-200 series, they have the same IFE installed (with the multifunctional remote) best is you can watch a film while following the flight routing via the remote screen. Hopefully when they get more 789's they will use the LED lighting functions better - during my flight they did not really use it to simulate the days - just bright lights and when dimmed - stayed blue. For those that complained about the electronic controlled windows - if I remember correctly - it seems to have now a true black out function compared to the 787-8 which I have flown before. [i did not get a window sit this time] Other than that - crews are still being trained and I heard it is a rather long process - the 777 purser which I spoke to on my outbound told me he has to go for the 2nd round of training later only in Sept this year before being able to work on one. btw landing @ AMS - seems like the pilots needed some extra training :D was quite a hard one and after that a rather abrupt braking. I think the plane did a hop and skip at some point :P Cheers! |

Assuming the 787 but just want to be sure. I am flying solo, so if the 747 single seat in Row 4 makes more sense, maybe silly to go for the Dreamliner? |

The windows are cool, the ottoman is much better than 777-747, overhead bins are just enormous and you have aisle access. |
