Does KL interline with TG?

I have an itinerary booked from ZRH-BKK-SIN, on TG and SQ. I am really starting out that day in AMS, and I need to purchase a separate ticket. If I buy from KL (which is cheaper), can they check my bag through to SIN? I should really fly on LX (since they are in Star Alliance), but the KL ticket is cheaper. Both allow for ~4 hour connection in ZRH.

For future reference, almost all traditional trunk carriers interline with each other, its not these, but the LCC's that you have to look out for.

As a very general rule, major legacy carriers all interline with each other and many LCCs do not interline. Usually you can verify this quickly with a quick call to the airline. Also, you might want to ask them whether having separate tickets will affect your checking of luggage; a few airlines interline but resist doing it on separate tickets that cross alliances, although in most cases having a printout of all ticket receipts showing ticket numbers and reservations (PNRs) will suffice.

Thanks to both of you. I assumed I could but I had a bad experience with BD when they wouldn't interline with LH due to separate tickets. If I book KL, I'll give them a call.

Was the LH/BD thing recent, i.e. in the last 17 days or so?

Neither will BA or VS.

Don't ask KL in advance. They will probably say no as some airports won't interline due to various reasons. It will be fine when you show up at the airport but with the other airline's printout reservation at hand and just tell the check in agent that you want your bags checked through. You won't get your boarding pass for TG though. That you'll have to pick up in transit at ZRH.

Allow at least 3 hours between flights as delays/cancellations can happen and then you're SOL as I doubt KL will do 'anything' to connect you to SIN as you only bought a ticket to ZRH.

SK have decided not to renew their interline agreement with BA, which expired on the 1st of this month.
