Transferring at Schiphol is usually far easier than is the case at some other airports, where a terminal change may be required, etc. and where it may take far longer or be trickier to make an easy and smooth connection.

i thought we were in the EU and that was it! i dont understand why there is another sub group which seems to make so much difference!
It doesn't have any real relevance for you or for your journey, but just as the UK opted to stay out of the Euro, so too did the UK opt to stay out of the Schengen zone. It's a common-travel zone implemented by most EU member states (and others outside the EU, such as Switzerland, Iceland and Norway) where internal border checks were abolished. Something like the common travel area that has existed in the British Isles for many decades.

Indeed, just follow the signs for transfer until you find a set of monitors where you can confirm where your flight is leaving from - it's likely to be very close to the gate where you just arrived. Even if the gate number for your Romanian flight is printed on your boarding pass when you receive it at Manchester, just verify again on arrival that the gate hasn't changed, as they sometimes change the gate shortly before the boarding process begins.

We remind you that you will be able to check-in online on airfrance.co.uk from 30 hours before your departure, choose your seat and print your boarding card.
At the same time you can also buy extra legroom or additional baggage allowance.

does this mean i dont need to go to the checkin desk in manchester??
i think i would prefer to get the real boarding pass from the real check in desk and also get the boarding pass for AMS TO romania, can somebody explain this online check in for me
thanks again very much
james
As was stated above, even if you check-in online, you can still go to the desk at Manchester and get copies of your boarding pass from the agent (If you have a bag to check-in, then you will have to go to a desk anyway). But if you check in online, and print your boarding pass yourself, and you don't have bags to check, you don't need to go to the check in desk at Manchester but can go straight through to security when you arrive at the airport. Alternately, whether you check in online in advance or not (and the earlier you check in, the greater selection of seats you will have, but maybe you don't mind too much where you sit), you can still collect and/or reprint your boarding passes at the airport - so if you don't have access to a printer at home, you can still check-in online in advance, securing your preferred seat, and then get your boarding passes at the airport.

Enjoy the flight, and don't worry about it, it will be a piece of cake!
