That makes sense. A380s are used for strong O/D traffic, and I don't see AMS being that close to the top. I can see key business destinations, major tourist cities or a place where many locals travel a lot. LHR, CDG and FCO do fit that criterion, but AMS is just a tad behind those in all areas.

What I don't really agree on is that they say people will choose for good service instead of good price, meaning choose EK instead of KLM. H
owever quite often EK is already cheaper than KLM on this destination. Also they have a great hub position for all of Asia, Africa and Australia.
So I guess it will be painful for KLM :-(

"...reizigers zullen kiezen voor goede service tegen goede prijzen." (bolding mine), meaning "good service at good prices" not "instead of good prices" as you translated the original article".

KLM has to start being creative and innovative again, let's change asap.
So far 2nd flight is postponed, and it seems they are focussing at Brussels, according some at airliners.net.
But still it's lovely to see the A380 at Schiphol.

380 is nice, but to bad the 2nd flight is postponed because of connection time to Australia..

Emirates really has a big marketing advantage with the A380: a poll of Zakenreisnieuws (ok not the most representative but anyways) shows that almost two-third would choose EK to Dubai because of the A380.
Also, various TA's are using the A380 in their ads for it being such a 'hype':
With DXB now being served by KLM, Emirates, Garuda Indonesia and seasonally Transavia and ArkeFly, I think KLM has lost a large portion of their travellers. Certainly people going on holiday.

Hardly surprising. All A380 operators tout the A380 as a reason to travel with them.
