Novice Amex rewards points/ Jet Blue points question
We have used our Amex rewards points on jet Blue in the past but
it's been a long time. I started to book a round trip flight for 2 people from
Oakland Ca to Raleigh NC. Cost 73,478 reward points from American Express.
Interesting because the cash ticket cost is $734.78 round trip for both of us.
What I'm trying to figure out is weather 73,478 points is too many points
for the trip, versus charging it on my Amex card and weather there is a better amex rewards airline conversion bargain out there?
It's been a while since I've had to wade thru this points for a ticket
thing and honestly I'm getting brain damage thinking about it.
I know you experts can help me figure out the best way to use
my amex mile (aside from giving them to you that is)
Thanks for helping out.

There are two ways to redeem AmEx points for travel. One is at a penny per point and that works across a broad variety of travel providers. That is the means you used based on what you've noted above.
The other way to use them is by transfering the MR points to a partner program and then redeeming them from the partner for a reward trip. If jetBlue has TrueBlue inventory available for your trip (which you can search on their homepage) you can move the points from AmEx to TrueBlue and then redeeming there. It would cost 50K points instead of the 73K that AmEx is quoting.
As to whether you're better off paying $365/ticket or cashing in the points, that is a personal decision. I'd say that the value per point is a little low for my tastes, but it isn't horrible.

Thank you very much for your kindness. Looks like I went thru the process
with success Minus the 23K extra reward points Amex was asking for.
It was just as I remembered 50K for 2 tickets plus all the fees.
Looks as though I need to look into another card if I expect to get better value for a rewards card. Someone mentioned Citi Bank but I suppose there are others also.
If you folks have any Ideas I'm listening.
Thanks again
OBTW I got the PM regarding coupon forum. Where is it???
