Question Currency Conversion on the JetBLue web site

So I went on jetblue.com and entered the information for flights from BUF to BOS and it gave me the fares in US $, of course. It offered to convert the fare to other currencies. The only choice in the "from" dropdown is US$, which does make sense in most cases. But then there is the dropdown for what to convert to. The "choice" is: Dominican Pesos. And that's all. Does that seem as strange to you as it does to me? What am I missing?

That may be the only other currency they process transactions in. Pretty much all their other destinations use the US Dollar as their currency or are pegged to it. BOG will change that, and I guess CUN is also not pegged (not sure about SJO but I think not), but if they aren't processing transactions in Euro why bother showing the conversion?

IME, the credit card statement usually shows conversions rates. For example, if I am using an American credit card in China, I can see the conversion from RMB to USD on my statement. For the OP, I'd imagine the conversion of USD to CAD to appear on the statement.

Right, but based on B6 having the DOP option on their site I was suggesting that maybe they are actually selling in DOP if folks there want to buy that way. So that transaction would just be in DOP, not converted by the processing agent. I don't know that this is the case, but it was my guess.

Of course we can find out in lots of ways what the conversion will be at a bank, but when there is such a drop-down for currency conversion, it's a point of information to use for a quick comparison. The idea of a drop-down with a Hobson's choice of one other currency seems weird. IMHO it would be better not to have it at all. The idea that we can pay for a flight from Buffalo to Boston in US dollars or Dominican pesos is certainly unexpected and somewhat amusing. Continental and other competitors have web sites that do the whole deal in other currencies. Contintental has a very good site for Canada. Of course they fly to Canada. But B6 flies to border cities and gets our business too.
