Burbank Departures

Anybody know why the 3 of the BUR-JFK departures on 10/13 look like they divereted to LAS and SLC? Doesn't look like the LGB flights had the same experience so it couldn't be weather in JFK. Also it looks like Flight 352 has done this a few times in the last several days.

Just a guess - probably to top off the gas.

BUR is probably using the short runway because of the fires burning in Lake View Terrace (the place, not the Samuel L Jackson thriller), Sylmar and Pacoima since Sunday morning. Those fires have probably closed the longer runway. With the short runway, A320s can't fully gas up.

FWAA is correct in his statement. Our eastbound departures could not load up with fuel to make the flight because of the runways in use due to the fires.

The fires had absolutly nothing to due with why the flights tech stopped. This was soley due to the winds coming out of the north. The planes infact tookoff towards the fires using the same runway that they normally use just in the opposite direction. When taking off to the north as opposed to the south, they have to clear the mountains. That is why they had to stop for fuel.
