E190 Lgb-ord
I was looking at our pairings for the end of April while doing my schedule and I noticed that the E-190 will be operating LGB-ORD towards the end of April. May start earlier but I haven't looked at JFK's pairings as BOS and JFK are the only 2 cities that have 190 pairings on a regular basis.

I was wondering when they would start routing the 190 through ORD, this makes sense. Since LGB is a mx base they will start to support the aircraft there. Also helps with upgauging or downgauging the flights based on loads.

LGB mechanics have been getting trained on the "quirks" of the 190 for the past couple of months. That bird is one tempermental beast, much like the old SF3's at Chicago Express. Great in the summer time but when winter rolled around they where hanger queens!

I haven't done many 190 trips the past few months. A lot of our pairings on the 320 have been worth awsome credit hours (20-30 credit hours, which is awsome). It allows me to maximize my time working and days off. Unfortunatly the 190 pairings havent been that great to get me to switch back. I have a few 190 trips coming up here in the next few weeks. The last 190 trip I took we developed a major problem while on the ground in BUF. The plane was eventually shipped back to MCO and then on the Embraer. The problems are still with the sensors in the aircraft. The plane has a sensor for everything and it tests those sensors constantly. When it develops what it thinks is a fault, it flags it in the flight deck. 99% of the time it is a glitch that is solved with a reboot. The plane, itself is a great airplane, well built, and very comfortable. Embraer justs needs to uninstall Windows Vista and put XP back in or switch to a MAC OS!

I'm suprised that B6 isn't flying the A320 LGB-ORD. They only have 2 flights in that market so I would think they would want to maximize the amount of seats on the flight.

Its not pretty. You really have to wait for a tech product to be out atleast a year before you make a full commitment to switching. Otherwise you run with the productly blindly and you could end up with problems like the ones with the E190.

I do the IT support and networking for my company (Its always fun fixing computers as close as my own or as far way as Nebraska on a remote basis). My boss, after buying a new computer for himself from best buy (without asking me first
), asked my I wasn't going to upgrade our computer our computer to Vista. Two weeks later I was at his house trying to help get him around the bugs and other issues he was having with the product. Its not pretty. You really have to wait for a tech product to be out atleast a year before you make a full commitment to switching. Otherwise you run with the productly blindly and you could end up with problems like the ones with the E190.

I'm almost fed up enough to get a mac! Although I am in SEA and some people I know may be offended by me buying a mac. Currently I'm on a nearly 5 year old machine. Don't need anything more than this for now (does email and FT well, what more do I need?)

As far as mac goes, I've never really liked them but recently (within the last few years) they have been coming out with products I kinda like. It'll still be a while before I consider a switch. Its just in the ballpark now.
How did I get so off topic?
As far as the E190s go, how big is the microsoft involvement in correcting the software issues? Are the doing anything or are they leaving everything up to Embrear?

MSFT didn't program the software, i think it came with the Honeywell Avionics package so i guess we could blame them. I was just poking fun at MSFT since they have had major issues with Vista and what not. Don't worry our planes don't get the "Blue Screen of Death"
