so about those reliable E190s....
flight 619, sunday, JFK-JAX
we got on, on time. we pulled back from gate one. we sat on the plane for about an hour. we pulled into gate three. they powered us down. it didn't fix the problem. an hour later, we are now over at gate 18, waiting to board the replacement plane. just bad luck I suppose. perhaps good luck on my part since this is my first delay due to an E190 computer glitch after a year of flying on them.

yep! stuff does happen
Anyway, on a positive note, the JFK ground staff handled the whole thing pretty well. As did most of my fellow passengers, and especially the kids and newborns! The parents' and kids on this flight were super calm, polite and good humored. Just one grumpy man in the bunch. We should have just left him at JFK.
We were told before we took off that the Bill of Rights would be in play. $50 buck reservation credit. (And we know I will use it
, so my JFK-JAX trip ends up being only $54.

The problem is with a new software update that was just installed. I just flew a 190 trip and had 3 delays because of the enw software. The new software is required to for the CATIII certification. The company is talking about pulling the new updates until the bug can be found and solved. Pilots have reported distance errors on flight plans, false ILS indications, ACARS disruptions and failures, and some other problems. Those problems alone will cause a failure in recieving CATIII certification but I would wager a fix will introduced in the next week or so and they will be back running at the reliability they where running at.
