Confirmed Same Day Change Question
I'm supposed to fly from IAD to OAK on July 4th on a 3:35 PM departure. I noticed that the weather forecast is calling for scattered storms that day so I'm considering trying for the 6:30 AM departure instead. When is the earliest I can contact JetBlue about doing a same day change? 24 hours before? After midnight the day of travel? Do I have to do this over the phone or can it be done online?
Also, does anyone have any thoughts on how early I would need to arrive at Dulles to make the 6:30 AM departure? I'm not sure if leaving on the holiday itself would mean it would be less busy or more so.

It has to be the same calendar day as travel so at 1201AM on the day of travel. You will have to call to get the confirmed seat on the earlier flight. If you can print out your boarding pass online at home at midnight and don't have baggage to check, 45 minutes before should be plenty of time to get through security. If you have bags to check, give yourself 15-20 more minutes.
I've been on that flight a few times and security can be long but a lot of times they don't even open until sometime between 530 and 545AM. So there is no point in getting there too early.
