The day before standby

Hi All,

It would've been hammered already but couldn't find the right one with search option.. I am just wondering if jetblue still permits standby for the last flight of the day if I have the ticket for first flight of following day. Following is what jetblue.com reads.

Customer Standby Travel

In order to travel standby, you must have already purchased a seat on JetBlue.

You may travel between the same city pairs only.

For cities with one flight a day, you may travel on the day prior to the original
scheduled flight only. For cities with multiple flights, you may travel on the
flight prior to the original scheduled flight only.

This option is free of charge, but is strictly on a space-available basis.

So, does bold sentence apply only in case of same-day standby?

TIA

You have on other option on jetBlue, you can confirm a seat on a different flight (with the same itinerary) for an additional $25. The only catch is that you may only make this change on the same calendar day as your flight.

I usually wait till 12:01 AM and call 1-800-JET-BLUE. I have yet to fail to get a seat with this option. I'm not sure how this work if you're on one of those redeyes that leaves at 12:05 AM but otherwise it's a pretty good system.

Anyone have an answer on this? I've been getting conflicting information from agents.

Yes it only applies on the day of travel. The day before will require a change in fare.

Do you know how the calendar-day rule applies if you're on a redeye that leaves shortly after 12 midnight?

That i'm not sure about and I couldn't venture a guess. I don't want to give you faulty information either as I don't know how that would work. I'm assuming you should be able to get on the flight that leaves just before the redeye. Example there is an 8pm departure before the midnight one, you would be able to get on the 8pm one because it is the flight prior to the redeye.

I would say call the 800 number to be certain, I would hate to see you get put in the ringer because I was wrong, but logic should favor my interpretation of the facts, but then again this is the aviation industry
