IFE Update

Thanks BlueCrew for keeping us updated, I hope to see the enhanced service when I take my JFK-SLC flight in Early September. Jetblue is a great airline, extra legroom is great and the Direct TV makes the flight fly by.
Only wish you served more destinations (Like maybe Newark )

Why not ATC?

Last week I took my first ever JetBlue trip and was somewhat impressed. I had a nice chat with the flight crew waiting for the inbound on my return, and made a suggestion to them which they seemed to like and said they would pass it along. On the channel which shows the map and other promos there is sometimes no audio. Why not have that channel carry ATC communications ala UA's channel 9? UA is promoting this feature and I believe it is becoming more widely used by crews as a marketing tool. It certainly can't hurt.

Just a thought.....

flight in a few weeks

I will have my first flight with Jet Blue over the July 4 holiday.
Am interested to see how it is.

I also like UA Ch9 and think it is something that should be expanded to other airlines.

Why not go ahead and mount a camera inside the flight deck that looks out the window and create a new channel where you can watch live feed of what the pilot see out their window and also a audio feed like UA's ch. 9. hehe Now that would be awesome.

AA had that--a camera first mounted in the nosewheel in the 1960's, then late 70's and up until around 1989 they had a camera over the captain's shoulder which showed take off and landing only. ATC communications were available, however throughout the flight.

I flew AA a number of times back in 1982 to 1988 and had the opportunity to enjoy that feature.

Question

I love the DirecTV on jetBlue and I am really looking forward to the upgrade which includes the Fox Inflight digital movie system, up to 36 channel of DirecTV, and over 120 channel of XM Radio.... now umm... are we going to use the same remote? Its going to take forever to go through all those new channels if its on the same set up at the seats. Oh well, at least going through all those new channel is a good way to kill time.

jl and nh have nose cameras on most of their long-haul planes, but don't have a channel 9 equivalent.

OS had nose cams when I took their 332; but no ATC of course.
Why did this update get removed?
Is this about FOX Movies being tested on Ships N570JB and Above?

ATC traffic and nosecam for IFE

The nice aspect of having ATC traffic or nosecam feed streamed through IFE is that it builds on the romance of flying. Satellite TV could been seen as simply placating you while you are "suffering" through the flying experience whereas ATC and nosecam add to the fun of flying and are specific to flying (you can't get them at home). I hope B6 picks up this idea from others that have tried it or use it now.
