LIS Slots

I read something very brief a couple days ago that LIS slots were approved for the winter schedule but it was unlikely they would start flying. Any news here?

From what I heard, they were approved to start service in the winter but they don’t expect to start operating the route until the summer as Lisbon is a summer destination.

My understanding is they want LIS year-round, and won't start until they have the slots for it. They don't want to set up infrastructure there for only part of the year.

It would be an A321neo with Mint or A321neo-LR. Those are the only two aircraft types at JetBlue that are ETOPS-certified.

Specifically wondering if a321LR would fly this route similar to other year round TATL. I would also think they have some XLRs delivered by the time this route starts.

I only fly core westbound, and the a321neo doesnt serve a hot meal.

Considering this would be the third-shortest TATL route (after DUB and EDI) and that competition is a single-daily flight on TAP and a clapped out Delta 767-300ER, I don't think this is will be a priority for the LR fleet. It will eventually get it when they have enough aircraft that all of the regular NEOs can go back to domestic flying, but I wouldn't expect it from the get-go. And that may be longer than we think... someone recently posted a thread with transatlantic cancelations, which indicate near-daily occurrences. They are having maintenance issues with the engines (primarily, among other things) as well as crewing problems.

TAP already flies a neo (not LR) on BOS-LIS. I can't imagine JetBlue putting an LR on unless they have nowhere else to send it.

I havent heard anything yet. My source is that they said no to JetBlue serves to LIS. They dont have anymore slots available. Its not going to happen anytime soon though.
