Dumb question, but how do you find I-class inventory?

Not at all. Ideally an Expert Flyer subscription or access to a GDS. The award search engine seats.aero will search for partner award inventory (which I think is I-class for Mint as well).

Can you use a MTM certificate on a flight booked with Qatar Miles?

So I just found a case where two flights, same points cost, required different certs. JFK-LHR, both 152,200 points for Mint direct. One need 2, one need 3.

Great tip - worked for me to book a 1-cert MTM from LAX-JFK

Here's a data point:
Booked EWR-LAX Blue for $204/pp and was able to apply 1 mint certificate for the upgrade.
Cancelled and rebooked at $162/pp but it was now 2 mint certs for the upgrade. The mint price was $1116.
The mint price dropped to $852 and it went back to 1 mint cert for the upgrade.

When the mint price dropped it went from 2 certs back to 1. None of the mint seats were assigned at any point.

When talking to one of the agents on the Mosaic line, she said that for domestic Mint routes, there are 4 Mint fare classes, from cheapest to most expensive: I, D, C, J. The Move To Mint certificates is almost always directly tied to the Mint fare class, I needs one, D needs 2, C needs 3, and J needs 4. The amount of the Blue fare is irrelevant.

If you do not have Expert Flyer, Expedia can show you the fare class. If you select the Mint flight, click on "show details," and it will say something like Business (C).

Keep in mind that booking class code inventory does not necessarily correspond to fare availability. For instance, suppose the lowest I-class fare requires a 21-day advance purchase. Searching for availability on Expedia within 21 days will not produce any results, even if flights have I-class open.

On the other hand, this may alter purchase behavior of a much broader group of customers than FT members looking to maximize the utility of these certs. Lowest-cost inventory has been hard enough to find using tools like Sabre/Expert Flyer, etc...."I really want to leave LAX at 11am, but I see the 7am has upgrades for one certificate. I guess I can get up earlier and take that one."

While I agree, I fully intend to burn B6 this year and never renew status again. Good riddance to my certs!

Same. B6 has been a disaster operationally so no intent to keep going.

Anyone get the website to show number of certs required? I've been trying this morning but it doesn't work.

are you signed in to your trueblue account? Email says you need to be signed in, so that may be the issue. It showed for me when I signed in and then clicked the Core fare.
