Checking bags on a Blue Basic itinerary with AA status?

We have 4 people on a BOS-SJU-BOS itinerary booked via Expedia in fare code L which seems to correspond to Blue Basic. 3 of 4 people on the itinerary have AAdvantage status (two are Gold, one is Platinum). Do we get free checked bags by virtue of status or do the Blue Basic prices supersede status?

Furthermore, are we allowed overhead space by virtue of status?

AAdvantage elites get free checked bags on B6. AAdvantage elites do not get to use the overhead bins on B6 Blue Basic fares: you are limited to one under-seat "personal" item. There are a few exceptions to the latter restriction, including if you purchase EMS seats on your flights.

Also, B6 seems to differentiate between checked bags at the ticket counter/pre-TSA (free) and gate-check bags, for which they'll apparently charge you $65 regardless of AA status, from what I understand.
