Family of 6 (4 adults & 2 children) traveling from Turks & Caicos (PLS) to LAX in mid July 2021.
My 2 options are:
1) transfer Chase Sapphire points to Jet Blue and get tickets for 29,400 points per person plus $92.55 taxes/fees per person
2)purchase tickets at $488.per person (x 6 = $2,928.) I'm assuming this fee includes the tax/fees.
If I pay for tickets does the $ go back to my credit card or does it come in the form of a travel certificate in the name of the passenger? I'd want it to come to me.
Thank you for your opinions.

If you're asking whether the money goes back to your original form of payment or a travel bank credit if you cancel, the answer is that it comes back in the form of a travel bank credit unless JetBlue cancels the flight or there is a schedule change of more than 2 hours, in which case, they would refund back to the original form of payment.Originally Posted by marciematassa

Thank you AutoSlash. If we rarely fly Jet Blue (requires going to LAX for us) which would you use Jet Blue FF miles or pay with credit card?
Chase points are considered to be worth 1.5-1.7 cents per point depending on how you redeem them and who you ask, so 29,400 points has a value of $440-500. Then you have to pay the taxes on top of that of $92.55, putting your total cost at $532-$592. If you can buy the tickets for $488 per person on your Chase card, you'd spend less and also earn 488 more Chase points per person further reducing the total cost. Other things being equal, purchasing the tickets with cash seems like a better bet.
I'm late to the game here, but also remember that there's an option to pay with points via the Chase travel portal. That will almost always get a better cpm value on JetBlue bookings than a direct transfer into the TrueBlue program. But the transfer can be useful if you need to top off with a smaller number of points for an award.
