Cost to choose seat on basic fare

I can't find the cost of choosing a seat with the basic fare on the website. I know its free with the Blue fare, but I don't really care about anything other than choosing a seat, so I'm just looking for the cheaper option.

Thanks in advance.

The cost varies based on the route and the seat chosen. You need to just do a test booking to see what comes up. There is no published price schedule.

This. However seat selection becomes free once the 24 hour check in window opens.

As long as one understands that seat selection at 24 hours is a bit of a contradiction in terms for most flights.

Yes there may only be middle seats left at that point BUT some people dont care about that. And for families with small children, they will make every attempt to seat you together.

When i was looking for SLC-FLL, it was still cheaper to book basic and pay for seats than it was to upgrade to the next level. I'm not worried about boarding last, they still have my seat reserved. No room to carry on a bag, they will gate check it for me.

If you were flying to JFK, you would have to wait a 1/2 hour from when the plane lands to get you bag. For some of us, having bin space for a carry on is very important. Understand if that is not important to you.
