BOS to AUS true blue basic, upgrade potential?

Hi everyone, my mother recently booked a flight from Boston to Austin on Jet Blue basic (without fully understanding the limitations of basic). Apparently on a jet blue basic fare you can pay an extra fee for seat selection, does anyone know how much this would be and how she would go about doing it? Sorry I know this is probably an easy answer but Im a newbie to this world. Thanks so much for any assistance!

I would imagine it's on their website or the app within the reservation, or you could do it over the phone. I have never booked a blue basic fare so I don't know for sure, but these are the first places I would try. You could also ask in the chat function on jetblue.com for a quick answer.

I'm going to piggyback This Thread to ask whether it's possible to combine this fare with an Even More Space purchase?

All this stuff is on the B6 website. A handy chart showing what you get, what you can pay for and what you can't get.

You can pay for an 'advance' seat selection. Once check in opens, seat selection is free.

The risk is that there might be only middle seats left by that time. But depends on how full the flight is.

ETA: The middle seat is only an issue if its a A320, There is no middle seat on the E190. But I think this route it is an A320.
