Checking reason for flight delay

Hi Everyone! Can anyone tell me how to check the true reason for a flight delay? I was on JetBlue 990 from MCO to JFK scheduled for 6:02am on January 19, 2018. The flight was delayed over an hour and a half, resulting in a missed connection to Dubai. The airline said it was due to ice on the wings, but the temperature was not below freezing. 41 degrees, winds 4.5mph and clear skies. Other planes were departing. I am wondering if I'm owed a compensation credit, but I don't know how to determine the true reason for delay. Thanks for any help!

You were on the aircraft. Was it deiced? Hard to miss.

MCO doesn't do much de-icing. They'll also just wait until the weather warms up and the overnight ice melts.

I trust that the pilots will look at the potential for ice (yes, wings can be icy at 41 degrees, especially if the sun is not out) and properly respond in those cases. Better to wait for it to melt than to risk flying with iced wings.

That's exactly what they did. Said they didn't have the machine, so we had to sit and wait for the "ice" to melt.

If one were inclined to lie -- not sure why the Command Captain of a commercial aircraft would so so --- I can think of easier lies to tell that can't be verified.

MCO de-iced a plane early last month. They posted a photo of the equipment on twitter.
