Got Free Mint Upgrades
JetBlue really impressed us last week.
My wife and I were on an Economy revenue one way ticket SFO to JFK on Dec. 23. My wife is Mosaic whereas I hold no status.
When checking in (we had checkin luggage so went upto the counter), the agent recognized that the flight was full and was perplexed why my wife hadn't been assigned a seat but I had. We really wanted to sit together. We enquired for and then declined the cash Mint upgrade offer, noting that we could fly Economy roundtrip to Europe for that cost of $650 pp.
To this, the agent checked us in, gave us our boarding passes and advised us to head to the gate, and that "she will see what can be done about our seats." We thought this meant she would find a way to assign us Economy seats together.
Well, she upgraded both of us to Mint for free! I've flown Mint before and my wife and I really enjoyed our flight!
Kudos to the JetBlue staff and their generosity. Definitely a unicorn event. Would love to hear similar stories from the FT community!

Yes, a unicorn event to be sure. While it's common for Mosaic members to get upgraded to EMS, it's extremely uncommon for Mosaic members to get a comp upgrade to Mint, much less have a non-Mosaic companion be upgraded as well. Xmas definitely came a couple of days early for you and your wife this year. The agent must've really liked you guys or been in an especially generous mood.

I've had that happen once. Flying back home TPA -> JFK -> BUF with my brother and sister in law back in March. I'm Mosaic, they are not.
Checked Flightaware for our plane, and it's an A321. Found that odd, since TPA-JFK isn't a Mint route. Sure enough, there had been some plane bingo, and we had the goods! They upgraded all 3 of us to the Mint seats, plus one or two other Mosaic members. Wasn't the full on Mint service, but was still nice, especially for them, as they haven't had that experience before.

I was very pleasantly surprised with a free up on a LAS-JFK flight back in Dec, especially since it was a Sunday night redeye & I was headed straight into work upon arrival.
Running a bit late to the gate, I wasn't really sure what, if any, issues there were with the flight? Some other data points, fwiw..., I am Mosaic, paid with points but iirc, not anything out of the ordinary for a Sunday night flight. Also, I know at least one other Mosaic also received a free upgrade on that same flight
