Standby fare difference?

Hi all, I seem to be finding conflicting information about this online. I'm considering flying standby on the flight before my current booked flight. I understand that there is no fee to do this, but do you have to pay the fare difference? I booked my ticket a long time ago and the price for the same flight as well as the one before are now higher. So if I do get off the standby on the earlier flight, would I have to pay the fare difference?

Thanks for the info!

I don't recall fare difference ever being part of standby.

Southwest charges the fare difference for any flight change but JetBlue doesn't AFAIK.
