This evening's (3/1) JFK > LGB and BOS > LGB are being diverted.

That's what happens when you stick A320's/A321's on transcon routes known for headwinds. Virgin America had to divert a bunch of flights as well. Same thing happens when you stick 757's on Atlantic crossings. Every winter expect a few diversions.
