Interlining with cx - separate ticket

I have a flight out of Las to sfo on jet blue, and then a premium economy ticket to hkg. The tickets were bought separately but I'm wondering if they'll still interline the bags for me?

I assume checking in at jet blue means they won't be able to issue my cx ticket?

Officially the answer is no. You can ask and might get lucky but I'd expect to have to collect your bags and re-check them in SFO.

I have something similar going on this summer. They said generally no, but it's at the discretion of the GA at check-in and that if there's a longer layover they're more likely to do it. In my case the layover is at JFK and they suggested 6 hours.
