using points AND credit
have enough pts. for a r/t for my ticket. How do I book ticket for my wife using my credit? Do I have to log in with my JB password and put her name in the passenger information section? Hope I don't get rejected.. thanks in advance..

You log into your account and then list your wife as the passenger. It will then ask you for your password to get the credit applied . It is pretty simply. I have used my sons credit to pay for my flight .

What happens if you do not have enough points for a flight? Can you pay the difference in cash? I know you can use points + cash for vacation packages but not sure about airfare.

I don't think you can just pay the difference in cash. You can buy points to top off an account, but you're paying a premium to do so (~2x their value in some cases).

That's exactly the experience I had over the weekend. I'm 2000 points shy of what I needed for a particular itinerary and a link came up directing me to buy points.
