Competition is Good!
For a long while now, Jetblue flew the only non-stop flights from NYC to JAX and flight prices averaged well over 100(one way) if booked in advance and short term as high as 300(one way)
Delta recently started flying non-stop to Jax a month or so ago out of NYC.
Now flights are as low as 60 one way booked in advance. Jetblue hasnt matched them on every flight yet, but they have on some, and short term booking has dropped to the lower 100's.
Fly there for business many times a year, so this is a big savings.
Competition is a good thing. Thank you Delta for lowering the cost of my Jetblue trip!

DL has flown LGA-JAX for years and US did at times, too. And EWR flights from JAX have existed since the PeopleExpress days. Also, DL has had JFK-JAX from time to time in the past IIRC.

Also there were plenty of times were jetBlue had sale fares in the $60s/$70s/$80s in the past, I have helped friends get those tickets numerous times. The title of your post is true however, competition is great for prices. I'm looking forward to seeing what prices on SEA-ANC look like when jetBlue starts serving this route in May. I hope it does well!

Airlines are merging and less fare wars are going to occur these days. Virgin America another carrier to compete like JetBlue actually cut back on new aircraft orders and is unprofitable right now.
The days of the fare wars for the most part are much less than ever now. However from time to time they will occur.
