JFK connection time
My family's flight from Dubai arrives at JFK at 14:50 and the connecting flight to MCO via Jetblue is at 16:30. Emirates tells me that their system allows for booking with a minimum of 1hr45mins connecting time in JFK - hence, my schedule. Still, my connecting time worries me especially since it will be mid-December by then and I'm not sure how it will be affected by weather disturbances. Should I just rebook and pay the penalty charges - which incidentally is the cost of booking a totally new flight!

If it is booked as a single, interlined ticket then the company will protect you automatically on the next flight if there are issues with the connection. That said, it is likely to be tight, especially if you have checked baggage and are not a US citizen coming through immigration.
Also, your connection is only 1:40 so if the MCT is 1:45 then that's not a valid connection. Doesn't mean it is impossible to make it, but it shouldn't be possible to book it.
