Bento box for NRT-DFW flight?
I have an upcoming trip NRT-DFW on AA. It is a long flight, and prospects for an upgrade don't look good. So, not wanting to trust to the delights of AA's "flagship" service in coach, I wonder if there are any good options for buying bento boxes which I could bring onboard? Would need to be after security, or something that could be brought through security, not too far from AA gates.
Thanks for any suggestions.

There is a bento shop in Terminal 1 just pass the JR/Keisei ticket gates. AA departs from Terminal 2 so you will have to catch the interterminal bus back to Terminal 2.
Alternative is pick up a bento at Tokyo Stn. There is a bento shop in the central hall.

Your best bet would be before passport control. Go to this page and select Take Out and Terminal 2.

To add to Newbierunner's good advice.
Please realise also that, as long as you have a bit of extra time (and, I presume, as long as the place isn't super busy) many of the restaurants that don't specialise in take out bento will make one up to you to order.
For instance, when I wanted an ebi fry meal to take on board a NRT-CPH flight I went to a restaurant dedicated to tonkatsu and breaded meat and fish and requested one of the meals displayed in their window to take on board with me.
Your choice is a wide and varied one at NRT land-side.
Enjoy!

For anyone who doesn't know how Japanese serve deep-fried meat and fish, "all the rice and cabbage you can eat" must sound odd. BTW I really miss ready-shredded cabbage sold in Japanese supermarkets.
