A Japanese article by Mainichi.

I did a quick search on this forum and found "Kabira Bay" (No.17) had never been talked about here. Even Ishigaki Island has been only 9 times.

It is a very beautiful place and I have wanted to keep it as my secret. But it is now on Michelin. Soon or later much more people will crowd the place. Here are the pictures.

According to this site
http://www.ccifj.or.jp/lm/spip.php?article2880

Sendai got 3 stars also.

That can't be right... can it?

Incidentally, how many stars did Kanazawa receive?

You know, some of those places are nice, but really "worth a journey?" I'm surprised that Michelin didn't put Ikebukuro on the list as well. Probably left it off because they didn't know about the miracle fruit-su place.

How about we start our own list of 3 star Japanese attractions?

Hey, don't knock Ikebukuro, the Tijuana of Tokyo. It does have the Nekobukuro and one of two of the original Frank Lloyd Wright buildings still standing in Japan.

Two more: Hakane and Odawa. Ofuna is cool too. I don't understand why Tokyo got 3 stars, it isn't worth more than 1.5 days anyway.

I first posted after I read a blog. Now I found a Mainichi article (J).
http://mainichi.jp/select/wadai/news...40056000c.html

It says Michelin picked 56 3-star, 189 2-star, 309 1-star.

So the list I put here and the one your mentioned are only partial.

The rest is reported to be disclosed on the release day.

And to speak of which, I loved the Sunshine 60 and still do, to this day! I finally got to take in the outdoor deck on the top of that building.. was a windy day the day I went up there.

Also check out the nifty Toyota car showroom on the lower floors at the side of the building.. I enjoyed being able to sit in some of the cars on display..

I thought we'd already started a list . It's shaping up rather nicely.

Ikebukuro has already garnered two Flyertalk recommendations.

And I can't deny my attraction to the cheeky charms of Funabashi.
