I am flying to Sapporo next week on ANA. Some questions about Haneda.

1. Are monorail and keikyu just as convenient getting to Terminal 1?

2. Hyperdia indicates that I transfer form Oedo to Asakusa and then Asakusa subway becomes Keikyu; is that all on passnet without having to go through turnstiles mid-trip?

3. How far in advance should I plan on getting to Haneda (this will be a Saturday morning)?

4. I saw that normal 22" rollaboards are legal (as long as under 15kg); is there a restriction on liquids for domestic flights? Will they try to get me to check the bags? Can I expect there to be overhead space available?

5. Has anyone had luck paying for upgrade to Super Premium day of flight?

6. Is Suica card accepted by JR Hokkaido or do I just get single tickets from airport to Sapporo Station?

About equal. Since you're living near an Oedo subway station it's easier (but usually somewhat slower) to use the keikyu.

EDITED TO ADD:
As later posters have pointed out, ANA flies from Terminal 2 at Haneda.

Take the Oedo to Daimon. At Daimon station it's just two escalator rides and a short walk (no barriers) from the Oedo line to Asakusa line. I'm pretty sure there are signs to indicate that it's the right platform for Haneda Airport.

NOTE - Trains to Haneda airport use the same platform as Asakusa line trains with different destinations. Be careful to get on a train bound for Haneda airport

They will allow check in up to 15 mins before departure. That's for daredevils only.
I usually aim to reach the airport 60 mins before departure. Slightly less is OK for hand-luggage only, but I don't like to cut things very fine.

After X-ray they have a special machine to inspect bottled water etc. Not sure what they do with bigger bottles - wine / sake etc.
This will change soon - Ministry of transport has announced a change in the procedures at all Japanese airports, which will bring Japan in line with the US. (And I believe that this will allow Japan to do away with the inspections at the gates for US airlines out of Narita airport).

If you are a Star Alliance Gold member, ANA will allow you to board early. Even if not, it's usually OK. In my experience, Japanese people generally carry-on less than Americans.

You'll need to buy tickets with cash.

For some reason I only thought they were doing that at NRT, KIX, and the other big international airports and that domestic flights would retain the more sane security procedures. Was that just me reading what I wanted to? *crosses fingers*

I visited Haneda a few years ago and remember seeing a JR Hokkaido ticket machine (along with route map from New Chitose Airport), so you can have a JR ticket ready when you arrive. I don't remember how much English there was on the machine.

I'm doing the same route (HND-CTS) on ANA tomorrow, but I thought ANA was in terminal 2 in HND. I couldn't find any info about it on the ANA site, but I asked some people at my office, and they said ANA uses Terminal 2.

Does anyone know if it's terminal 1 or 2? I'm on flight 77, which today at least is leaving from gate 52 according to ANA's site if that means anything.

Also, this might be better in the ANA forum, but in terms of carry-on items, are standard sized toiletries (toothpaste, shaving cream, etc.) allowed these days? The only restricted carry-on items on ANA's site that I could find are the usual things like scissors, knives, baseball bats (well maybe this one isn't usual ). And, do they really limit you to one carry on? Ideally, I'd like to take a briefcase and an overnight bag.

ANA flies out of Terminal 2 at HND. I hope OP didn't get lost by asking about Terminal 1. (ANA flies out of Terminal 1 at NRT).

I did get off the monorail at terminal 1 and realized that ANA wasn't there so hopped on the next monorail to terminal 2.

Not only was there no problems with taking liquids onboard, coming home I was never asked for ID. I might have been able to do the same on the outbound but I offered our passport when checking in at Hamamatsucho Station.

As for additional carryons, they will not take them from you. They might come up to you at the gate and ask to gate check your rollaboard but they took no for an answer.

We paid the 5,000 Yen for upgrade on outbound (but it was not available on the return). This, I found, was useful when you check bags as they come off first. I would definitely do it again for the extra space, too.

Thanks! If they offer upgrades I think I'll go for it, but because of the snow festival, this route is really busy tomorrow.

Right now, Expert Flyer is showing F4 Y0 for my flight I guess we'll find out if they can really board a 747 in 20 minutes!

Now I just have to decide how late I can get to the airport. I have a weekly meeting every Friday afternoon which I missed last week because I went to Hong Kong When I mentioned I was going to Sapporo tomorrow, they suggested it "might be better" if I stayed for the meeting. Hopefully it will wrap up quickly!

Incidentally, I think they started scheduling these meetings because of my early Friday departures. I've already tried the "that's how we do it in America," but they weren't really buying it
