Cheap Day rate hotels in KIX or Kyoto?
Hi
I am starting my Japan trip in Kyoto but arriving in KIX Kansai at 0630 in the morning ( short flight from HKG following a overnight from London)
I was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap hotel suitable for a few hours sleep either at Kansai or in Kyoto ( staying at the doubletree kyoto station but planning on not being able to check in until 3pm) please.
My previous morning arrivals in to Tokyo, I have been ok but thinking about options just in case I need a couple of hours sleep on arrival
Many thanks
Regards

Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport
Just stayed at the Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport for one night after arriving from HKT via SIN at 21:30. The hotel is conneted to the airport on a walkway just passed the JR station; used the luggage cart all the way to the room. I really enjoyed the short overnight stay and the included breakfast was very good; large buffet with multiple islands for different cuisines. Rates were Y12500 room only and Y14000 with breakfast.
I do not know what their options are for day room use as they have a 2pm checkin policy, so perhaps you can contact the hotel to ask, otherwise it would likely be a 2 night charge to check in at 06:30 unless you vacate by 12:00 or maybe there is a late check out option at some extra charge?

Update: Just found this info translated from the Japanese web page on accomodation questions:
------------------------
In case of early check-in (early check-in)
*Check-in from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 50% of the room charge
*Check-in from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 30% of the room charge
In case of extended check-out time (late check-out)
*Until 15:00 30% of the room charge
*Until 18:00 50% of the room charge
*After 18:00 1 night's stay
*Depending on the plan, the above regulations may not be met or your request may not be accepted.
*Depending on the date, we may not be able to accept your request.

Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station: 4 hours (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) from 5950 JPY
https://www.ikyu.com/00080737/?adc=1...=2&themeid=511
The check-in time is little later than you might prefer, and they'll probably enforce it because Japan but perhaps it might work for you.

Hi,
I have booked the Miyako City Kinetsu Hotel ( mercure showed no availability). Thanks
By the time I clear immigration and customs in Osaka then get the train to Kyoto it should be close to 10 am ( for Y5950 it is very good- an extra night at the doubletree would be Y30,000
Will nap for a hour then shower . With a 2pm check out , i should be able to check in at the Doubletree shortly afterwards ( or wait till 3pm)
Regards

Hi
Here now.
Check in was at 10am so left by bags and wandered for 45mins
rooms are small ( 2 single beds) but has all the essentials ie fridge, nightshirts, good range of accessories in bathroom ie toothbrush, body cloths, combs etc. Bath/ shower combo and good water pressure
room overlooks the railway line so you can see the shinkansen arriving at kyoto station. Room also
can also see its sister miyako hotel with a red torii gate on its roof.
Moving to the doubletree kyoto station next
Regards

There have been times international hotels in Japan have let me check in around 10am or 11am. Japanese brands, on the other hand, have at times made me wait until exactly 3pm (even though the room is obviously ready).
A love hotel is a reasonable short-time option as they are open 24hrs. Most are larger than a regular hotel room. Many are now bookable online.
