How does the MYSOS app work now
Hey all,
I'm got my visa issued and I'm prepping for my first trip back to Japan since 2019. I feel up to date on everything that I need to do with the exception of one thing, this MYSOS app. My understanding was originally it was for quarantining and to give the government a way to track you/be in contact with you during quarantine. But I'm wondering now with the lifting of many restrictions how the app works now. I haven't really seen any updated info about the app on the government's site. For reference purposes, I'm a vaccinated and boosted US citizen travelling on a US passport. Per the latest that I read, I don't need to either test or quarantine. So what am I using the app for and what should I expect to happen? Thanks for any experience/advice you can give. |
MySOS allows you to upload documentation and submit forms in advance of arrival. If everything is approved you get a blue screen that gets you through the arrivals process faster.

Thank you, do you still need to use it for monitoring and checking in? Or is more used now for entering your information pre departure?

Middle Name on mysos in passport registration section
Wasn't sure if this is the right place but when I was filling out the passport section of the mysos web version, it would complain if I had my first and middle name entered with a space in between. I went ahead and just entered my first name rather than smushing my first and middle name together.
The passport upload scan/picture was approved so I assume this isn't a problem. Any experience or advice from others? (Moderator if this needs to go elsewhere that is fine with me. It seems that we are going to start seeing more questions about mysos registration so maybe need a general thread for that?) |
I have a flight to Japan this week and I was initially put off by the "blue is good" screen color.. normally, you'd expect green.
Anyway, I wonder if anyone is bothering with the COCOA app? Per JAL website, it says to install both MySOS and COCOA apps, but I know someone who skipped COCOA and it was fine. |

The government recently announced it's discontinuation as well: https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2022/09/13/national/covid-app-end |
Would anyone happen to know what the "P" stands for next to Blue and 青? This is for my travel partner who isn't a U.S. citizen. I'm a U.S. citizen and mine doesn't have this P. Perhaps it's because the passport scanning tool 5 attempts before finally registering? :D

So I downloaded the app yesterday. It asked basic information like:
1) are you using the app for entry to Japan 2) passport number 3) first and last names 4) date of birth. I’ve now got the screen below… with no option to actually upload my vaccine certs… what have I done wrong?? https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f8195cd823.png |
That red screen above is what we constantly get too. It thinks we are in Japan instead of the USA. Have deleted and re-downloaded the app numerous times and can get no further than that screen. I tried google and it says you should be able to upload your passport photo and answer a questionnaire and then upload your vaccine information; but I don't see how. Further sites on google say you need this app to work on your phone or you need to rent a phone in Japan to show this app? Frustrated as we are boosted and have our visas and are ready to go. Maybe we can just show our information to the airline when we board, but don't want any hiccups on the way. We are tech savvy (at least my husband is) and can't figure out this app!

Did you guys use the QR as instructed here? https://www.hco.mhlw.go.jp/fasttrack/en/

QQ: submitting my info to MySOS via their web interface ahead of my October 7th departure date. Made it through to the final step (submitting proof of vaccination), but I've been stuck at this screen with the spinning round thing for about 2 hours now. Normal and they're just busy, or an issue?

Anyone currently in Japan and using the MySOS app to check in their health status? I came to Japan and had to check in for one or two days but now the app said thank you tracking no longer needed. Wondering if anyone else is seeing that too. Thanks
|
The P is on all the FAQ images of the blue screen but I couldn't find an explanation for it. I have it as well.

Can I delete the MySOS app after I've finished using Fast Track? Only if you are required to quarantine, please keep the app installed and continue using it to report your health condition during your designated quarantine period. If you are not required to quarantine after entering Japan, you may delete the app after you have completed immigration procedures. |
I entered the basic registration info and the screen said they were emailing me a link I had to click before I could continue with registration in app. After several hours I have not received that link. I verified that they have my correct email address and that their email did not go into my junk. I would assume the email would have been sent automatically but could the reason I have not received it be that it is in the middle of the night in Japan??? Any ideas what I should do (delete app and start again??)

Can two person using the same phone
We only have one phone. Can we use the same phone to register two person? One person at a time and then the second person?
Thanks! |
Mr friend got a blue screen last week, but his flight has changed from LAX-NRT to LAX-HND (same day arrival) now.
Does he need to start over with the correct flight info? |

How long does it normally take for vaccine certificates to be reviewed? It's been over 24 hours right now for me and still under review.

Anyone figured out what the P means?? (I am US citizen) |

”The review of vaccination certificates will be done with a priority on travellers whose scheduled Japan arrival date is within two weeks. Travellers closest to their scheduled arrival date will be reviewed first, so more time may be required to complete others.” I think the 2 weeks bit is new, and that previously it was just closest to scheduled arrival date. |
I believe the "P" means primary user. When submitting information, I remember having to check a box saying I'm filling out the info for the primary user. I'm flying over alone next week, and I have the P. I'm from Canada.
Just speculation though, I don't know if this is true or not. |
I did mine about 10 days ago and it was approved within 12 hours. Travel partner submitted it this past Sunday night and it's still pending. Leaving in 16 days. I assume it'll clear next week.
|
Submitted with 5.5 days til travel, took about 6/7 hours for vaccination certs to be processed and app turn blue.
Travelling on 11 oct, arriving same day. The all is still asking for proof of a test before departure and says ‘please register’ next to that, even though the tab for it is blue. I’m guessing that’ll all change on the 11th? |
Received approval this morning of the second one. So still over 2 weeks out.

Hello everyone! I have a problem and maybe some of you had it too and can help me. I clicked on "SKIP" after uploading the Passport picture (anxiety) because I thought I could continue with the rest while the passport was being reviewed. Now the passport section remains on "SKIP" after several days, and I can't even re-upload the picture. I just got stuck there and I can't find any answers to how to proceed. I did try to delete and re-install the App, and complete everything on the website, but nothing worked. :(

"This message is from the Quarantine Documentation Center (QDC) in Japan. Once screen's color changed to blue, the registration has already completed and you don't need to upload the passport. We will not delete the account. Please show the passport at the airport. P mark means that the upload of passport has completed." Hope this helps!! |
Travelling in November. Submitted docs Sunday Oct 2nd via app. Got approval and Blue screen early hours Saturday Oct 8th UK time.
Should give an idea of timescale for processing for those who are not travelling within the next couple of weeks. |
