Niseko recommendations & tips?
Planning to spend 5 days at Niseko United in mid-Jan.
Any recommendations for Niseko and around Sapporo?
Was looking at joining a group to go powder hunting:

Any thoughts about getting the best snow?

Watching this thread as will be there late Jan, and adding a request for comments on rental car. Staying in Annupuri and the hotel said one may not be a bad idea. I'm comfortable driving in snow. Zero comfort reading Japanese
Would love recs on a vendor.

We stayed at Ki Niseko and had an amazing time. They have private onsens you can reserve for free and though their spa is small, it's shockingly affordable and the massages were amazing. Their restaurant was equally high quality and very affordable for the number of courses. We usually don't eat at hotels but we were there during shoulder season so a lot of the more popular local joints were closed. Overall I thought Niseko was a bit too touristy (more Australians and Americans than Japanese!) But fun.
Houzuki Udon is a must. Beautiful location a bit outside town and they serve the best udon I've ever had.

We stayed at Zaborin near Niseko and they provide free shuttles to Hanazono. Our stay was gorgeous though I'd say we as far as the actual lodging we preferred our stays in Kyoto ryokans, however the scenery at the Zaborin cannot be beat. Food was good, service was helpful and nice if a little bit unpolished (again in comparison to Kyoto Ryokan).
