I only mentioned DC because the OP specifically inquired about options in the US. The trees were a gift from Japan to the US, and are the real deal. I usually go to Hiroshima myself because it's a short flight from Shanghai, and I have friends there, but I would definitely go to DC instead if it wasn't on the other side of the world.
