Arriving at NRT at 9pm

It wasn't my choice to get in so late but my flight from JFK to NRT gets in at 9pm. If it is on time and by the time I clear immigration and get my luggage the last airport limo and even trains may have left.

What options are there to get into Tokyo if the Bus and Trains are not running.

I am amazed that things shut down at such an early time and the cost of a taxi or car service are crazy.

Last limousine bus for TCAT leaves Terminal 1 at 23:00. You'll be fine.

And there's one to Shinjuku at 23:10.

Where are you staying in Tokyo?

Any case, the last Keisei Skyliner train to Ueno/Nippori leaves Terminal 1 at 10:30pm and Terminal 2 at 10:33pm. You can change to other train lines at Nippori. The last JR Narita Express train leaves at 9:44pm, odds are you could even probably get this one too, since immigration and customs are pretty efficient in Japan. Also, you have (as mentioned previously) limousine buses that run until around 11pm.

I've taken the exact flight I'm guessing you're on. Don't worry about it. I took the Keisei Skyliner and had plenty of time.

Your flight is most likely not going to leave 2 hours late from JFK; if it does, the pilots will make up time in the air. If it goes tech or has a real problem that causes a longer delay, the airline will help you. They know that everything shuts down early; they schedule the flight to get in at 9PM for a reason, so everything is still open. Literally the entire plane would be stranded if it got in after all the transportation options closed; not many people are going to NRT to stay in Narita, and there aren't even a lot of connecting flights at that time.

Anyway, you'll be fine.

NRT is not 24 hrs. airport. Arrival and departure between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. is not permitted except for emergency and other unforeseen circumstances.

If the departure of NH 1009 from JFK was delayed by more than 2 hrs. (after 8:05 p.m. departure from JFK) then likely happen is that the departure from JFK will be delayed till 3:05 a.m. or later next morning so that the flight will arrive at NRT after 6 a.m. local time.

I've taken this flight twice.

The first time there were no issues. The second time, the flight was delayed by ~ two hours, so they announced on the plane that there would be "special" TCAT-bound Airport Limousine buses for us. I misunderstood and thought that they were going to cover the charge...

If you're flying premium cabin this flight used to give you a free taxi to Tokyo. I tried looking on their website for information and its unclear to me if it still does. https://www.ana.co.jp/wws/japan/e/lo...i/#eur20150401

Thanks for all the info. I am currently staying at the Andaz but may switch to the PHT.
Also on an award ticket so the car service in not allowed.

I just looked up Limo Bus to Andaz. There's none that goes straight to Andaz that'll work out for you.

However, you'll have multiple options.
* Limo Bus to TCAT, then taxi.
* Skyliner to Keisei Ueno station, then a fairly short transfer to Ginza line subway to Toranomon, then walk.
* Narita Express to Tokyo station, then taxi.

The last Narita Express departure is 9.44pm, but you have a good chance of making it if your flight's on time and you don't faff around too much. You may even have time to get your gaijin 4000y return discount, although that may be pushing it.

I've arrived in NRT around that time frame quite a few times, and I don't think I've ever had problems with getting to Tokyo. And no, I never use taxi's from NRT.
