Rush hour - Kyoto

On a Monday morning, should I avoid the Kyoto subway at a particular time? I want to travel from Kyoto main station to Inari station (for Fushimi Inari Shrine) but don't fancy being shoved into trains unable to breathe! Is rush hour (or more than an hour?) bad in Kyoto, should I avoid travel between certain times?

Thank you!

Traffic can be rather heavy above the ground, not so much in the bowels of Kyoto.

Does the subway go to Inari? I thought it was the JR Nara Line?

I could be entirely wrong - I thought Hyperdia showed me the subway symbol! If it is JR does that affect things greatly (I will check Hyperdia again when I am on a more user friendly device!)

Not the subway, but the train that runs underground between Demachiyanagi and Shichijo and continues on to Yodoyabashi stops at Fushimi.
